Net-zero: The transition to electrification was a no brainer
“It was a no brainer really” says Electricity North West Ltd (ENWL) Operations Manager Cieta Davies, when she approved the installation of the Lithium Power Supply (LPS) from Clayton Power into their commercial vehicle fleet. When using the LPS, there are many benefits, not only for the company and the operator, but also for the community.

Clean, green, and silent technology with an LPS
With the LPS power solution it was possible to replace the old petrol-powered hand tools with new battery powered equivalents. Petrol-powered hand tools create a lot of noise. In addition, the constant fumes create an unpleasant working environment for the operator. Removing the fumes and noise has gone down well with the communities in which ENWL operate.
Power in the vehicle allows an easy electrification
When ENWL first transitioned to battery powered tools, they relied upon the vehicles engine running in order to recharge their batteries. When they found out about the LPS, they quickly had the fleet retrofitted with a system which allows them to recharge all of their batteries without having to idle the engine. Roadside working with zero emissions.
“We have no problems with charging the batteries. They are charged without the vehicle running while we are at work”, says Peter Raven, Grounds Maintenance Delivery Manager.

The electrification is fantastic, according to the operator
Mark Hayhurst, Grounds Operative at ENWL states “The charging system that we have in the van is fantastic, I’ve never had a moment where I’ve run out of charge”. Being able to move to battery powered tools has a multitude of benefits for the operator. The equipment is lighter, quieter and doesn’t emit any nasty fumes. All of this makes for a happier and healthier working environment for Mark and his colleagues.

As a Distribution Network Operator there is a constant focus on the transition to net-zero. One contribution in Cieta’s department comes by switching from petrol to battery powered tools.
Top 3 benefits for the operator:
• Recharge batteries in the vehicle and have sufficient power for the entire day.
• Solar panels contribute to the recharging of the batteries.
• Improved working environment for the employees.

Rapidly recharged for every stop and every job
Flexible recharging from the vehicle’s alternator, solar panels or the grid assures maximum efficiency.
Even when the vehicle is turned off the LPS will still recharge and supply your tools with power. You can use both 12V and 230V at the same time and the LPS is recharged rapidly from: The vehicle while driving, solar panels on the roof or from the grid. In the display menu it is possible to see how much the solar panels have contributed to the recharging of the LPS.
